Guitar's self maintenance
Guitar's self maintenance is necessary for the normal use of your guitar, especially if you’d like it to last for a long time, and it is like taking care of your own offspring, because a self maintained guitar is a guitar that is growing old with you!
Cleaning the guitar
The guitar’s body, its neck and its strings require cleaning, which depends upon the amount of time you invest in using it. The guitar’s body is made out of wood, which require the use of a basic cleaning substance, which can be bought at your local supermarket or hardwood store.
The cleaning substance can be sprayed over a piece of cloth, that you then gently rub your guitar with. The same applies on your guitar’s neck as well, but with a different cleaning substance, whom you should only buy in a music store around your residential, or buy it online, along with a special liquid who is required for the removal of dust, oil, etc. from the daily use in the strings of your lovely guitar. Cleaning your guitar is not only good for the guitars looks but is also improving the sound of the guitar. It’s almost the same as buying a new one every time!
Adjusting the bridge and truss rod
In order to make the best use of your guitar, you can adjust your guitar’s bridge with a screwdriver (beware of scratching your precious guitar!), by measuring the height of your strings on the 12th fret and adjusting it to the bridge’s height. Another kind of adjustment you can do is with the guitar’s truss rod, which is a metal rod extending inside the guitar’s neck. It can be adjusted with an Allen-type screwdriver from one of the sides of the guitar’s neck.
